Peter James Yanowitch - Career in Litigation and Business Strategy

A South Florida based attorney and consigliere with more than four decades of experience advising domestic and international families and entrepreneurs, Peter J. Yanowitch, Esq. has had a diverse legal career representing clients in such areas as real estate, entertainment and motorsports, commercial transactions, banking, and litigation. Mr. Yanowitch has often been tapped to provide outside general services to businesses and families alike.

Born in Rochester, New York, Mr. Yanowitch worked his way through college and law school, earning a Batchelor of Arts degree from Sarah Lawrence College and a Juris Doctor degree from Syracuse University College of Law. At Sarah Lawrence College, Peter J. Yanowitch founded the college newspaper, and was selected for the highly competitive New York City Urban Fellowship, which was awarded to only twenty fellows annually.

In law school, Peter Yanowitch earned a teaching fellowship in legal research and writing, and was editor of the Syracuse Law Review. Upon graduation Mr. Yanowitch clerked for Chief Judge Howard G. Munson of the United States District Court for the Northern District of New York.

After completing a full-time clerkship, Peter J. Yanowitch moved to Miami and joined the boutique law firm of Sams, Gerstein & Ward. There Mr. Yanowitch built a litigation career, handling complex matters including securities fraud, products liability, family law, and medical malpractice, and earned partner status in only five years. He successfully represented over 100 investors in the ill-fated DeLorean sports car venture and was recruited by the New York City based litigation firm of Davis, Markel & Edwards to open their Miami branch office. He led the office for seven years, undertaking some of Miami’s largest commercial cases, before leaving to establish his own practice, Yanowitch & Co. LLP.
